FAQ

What does the name Skylos Collective mean?

Skylos means dog / hound in Greek and we absolutely love what a ‘collective’ embodies – togetherness, unity, collaboration.

What is Apple Leather?

Apple Leather is made in Italy and is 26% apple, another 16% is organic cotton and the remainder is 20% polyester and and 38% polyurethane. All products are PVC free and comply with REACH regulations. The Apple Leather is sourced from Italy and the apple used in the material is waste products from the juice and compote industry. We also love it as the apple used is diverted from waste.

Where are your products made?

All our products are manufactured in the UK by skilled crafts people at our artisan production house. We are so proud to be working with a luxury British leather goods manufacturer as it means we are active in the preservation of dextrous craft skills in the UK.

What eco credentials do your products have?

One of the reasons we are launching our first collection with Apple Leather is the incredible sustainability certifications the material has. It is Peta Approved Vegan, USDA BioPreferred, OEKO-Tex Standard 100, Global Recycled Standard and ISO, among others.

Are you products always the exact same colour?

As we use materials which include a percentage of natural waste, there can be small differences in colour and tone. These are small but we don’t mind at all as it makes our Skylos Collective special and unique.

What does the QR code show?

Every Skylos Collective product has a QR code on the tag. On this, you can learn more about how the product was made by seeing its value chain. You can also see where our donations (2% of our profits go to the Animal Welfare Society of South Africa) and how the money is being used. It also shows how our work connects to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals!

What size does my dog need?

Check our size guide here. Our collars are currently available in small, medium and large. We are working on soon being able to offer a larger size range, if this is of interest to you – let us know so we can keep you updated when they are available.
